Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Services, the Manager, Planning and Measurement is responsible for leading the ministry's planning, performance measurement, reporting and enterprise risk management functions to ensure that the ministry meets its legislated accountability requirements.

As Manager, you'll lead a collaborative team responsible for:

  • Proactively engaging executives, staff, and stakeholders to ensure strategic and business plans clearly communicate the ministry's strategic direction.
  • Ensuring the ministry uses sound evidence to communicate context, results, and strategic issues to decision-makers.
  • Leading the organization's enterprise risk management function, to ensure the ministry can effectively identify, evaluate and treat risks and opportunities.
  • Contributing to issues management for the ministry through identifying, analyzing, and preparing responses to potential issues that arise in the measurement and public reporting of performance results.

You will work with colleagues and senior leaders across the ministry to develop strategic and business plans, measure performance and communicate results internally and externally (to legislators and the public). You'll also lead and mature the ministry's enterprise risk management processes, engaging proactively with senior leaders and subject matter experts.

Qualifications

University graduation in Social Sciences, Public Administration, Business or a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by four years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams with diverse skill sets.
  • Significant experience with planning, measurement, reporting, risk management, and managing sensitive information in a complex policy environment.
  • Sound understanding of JET's political and policy context and Government of Alberta strategic and policy directions and priorities.
  • Knowledge of leading practices in strategic planning, engagement and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of best practices in performance measurement.
  • Experience with legislation and accepted frameworks for public sector reporting and risk management.

This competition is for a position based in Edmonton, offering a work schedule of Monday to Friday, totaling 36.25 hours per week.
