Join Police Digital Service as a Cyber Specialist (2 roles available)
Salary starting at £70,000
About Police Digital Service
To protect people from harm in our rapidly changing world, police services must not only keep up with technology and business changes but develop capabilities and ways of working that will enable them to adapt to and deal with the complexity of modern criminality.
Police Digital Service strives to be the go-to partner for technology developments and programmes across UK policing. Our team provides technical advice and delivers services to help policing and law enforcement organisations across the UK prioritise and focus on technology efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Cyber Delivery Manager, providing specialist advice, reporting and assurance to principal stakeholders within PDS, Policing and the Home Office.
- Support implementation of the PDS Cyber Services (CS) strategy, roadmaps and business plans, bids and business cases to ensure that PDS, PDS CS, and Police Forces achieve their short, medium and long-term objectives.
- Monitor security, technological, social and scientific trends that could influence the National Policing policy and consulting approach and provision of Cyber services.
- Ensure that outcomes and benefits are maximised from all people, process and technology investments - especially those that facilitate or enable improvements in policing outcomes - as part of the PDS role in leading delivery for the National Digital Policing Strategy 2020-30.
- Advise on necessary technical and procedural governance, control systems, standards and procedures to ensure that decision making for policy and consultancy activities meet business objectives and comply with all legal, regulatory and policy standards, requirements and/or directives, at local and national levels.
- Forge strong relationships with National Policing Programme personnel and key PDS stakeholders across Policing, enabling effective implementation of all cyber specialist activities in support of their corporate objectives.
- Provide technical and security input and recommendations to Design Authorities and Information Security and Risk groups in reviewing and reporting risks to provide clear visibility of local and national risk exposure to policing.
- Consult on and develop, document and maintain information security and risk policies, standards and guidelines for use by National Policing.
- Provide security advice, secure solutions and risk identification and quantification for National Policing projects and programmes, in line with National Policing policy and standards, legislation, regulation and industry best practice.
- Present risk assessments, recommendations and treatment options to risk owners and stakeholders, providing a comprehensive view of Cyber Security risk to risk owners.
Essential
- A minimum of 3 years of proven IT/Information security and risk consulting experience in organisations with complex security and compliance requirements.
- Experience of ICT programme delivery consulting approaches and security solution architecture principles, gained through direct experience of solutions delivery in similar size organisations.
- Experience in defining and/or implementing security controls across multiple layers of the IT architecture stack.
- Experience in the production of, or input to, design documentation (HLDs, LLDs, blueprints etc.), supporting cloud architecture design, implementation, and operations.
- Strong knowledge and ability to demonstrate the use of the NIST Cyber Security Framework, mapping and translating NIST Cyber Security Controls to other frameworks such as ISO27001 and CIS Top 20 controls.
- Significant experience of designing, and delivering cyber solutions within a large complex multi-faceted organisation, in consulting roles.
- Demonstrate a track record of developing strong working relationships with a wide number of stakeholders, particularly in managing expectations across a large number of disparate customer, supplier and stakeholder groups.
