Durham Spine & Pain Institute (DSPI) is a brand-new clinical facility in Ajax, Ontario, located minutes from Lakeridge Health Ajax-Pickering Hospital. We opened in May 2024 and are seeking like-minded individuals to join our rapidly growing organization.

DSPI was founded by a group of Physicians with a combined many decades of experience providing patient-centric, multidisciplinary, interventional pain management. At DSPI, we believe in promoting healing and improved care by using proven, evidence-based interventions and regenerative therapies. We seek to improve our clients, and their families, overall quality of life by providing education, continued and focused care, and various interventional treatments based on individual client needs.

Mandate: DSPI is seeking skilled and professional Medical Radiation Technologists to work alongside our team of Pain Physicians, Anesthesiologists, Ortho/Sports Medicine Physicians, and staff to assist with interventional pain and stem cell procedures in our fluoroscopy suites. Responsibilities include:

  1. Operate C-arm to acquire fluoroscopic images for the Physician during procedure;
  2. Apply sterile technique in the preparation of procedural trays and patient preparation;
  3. Operate radiofrequency ablation generator and equipment; demonstrate proper care of all procedural equipment;
  4. Educate patients about imaging process, radiation safety, procedure details including pre and post care;
  5. Monitor patient comfort and safety at all times; document procedure details in patient’s chart;
  6. Ensure fluoroscopy suite is appropriately stocked at the beginning and end of shift; notify Office manager or Director of any supply shortages or equipment concerns;
  7. Adhere to Employee/MRT responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health & Safety Act and DSPI Policy & Procedure manual;
  8. Complete other duties as outlined and required by Physicians, Office Manager, and Director of Operations.

Qualifications and requirements:

  1. Diploma from an accredited Medication Technologist (MRT) program;
  2. Current registration and in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO);
  3. Current BLS certificate and first aid certificate;
  4. Advanced skeletal knowledge and proficiency;
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; exhibit respect, dignity, and kindness;
  6. Exceptional organizational skills with high attention to detail, and accuracy; ability to work independently and as a team member;
