What We Are Looking For We are seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with operating room experience, specifically in orthopedics – total hip replacement (THR/TKR). The candidate will be based in Laval. General Responsibilities Admit the patient and verify their file. Review the file, collect data, and use the safe surgery checklist. Perform surgical aseptic hand hygiene and don sterile attire after the patient is positioned on the surgical table. Arrange instruments on the sterile table according to function and logical order, maintaining the order throughout the surgery. Conduct an initial surgical inventory for materials (gauze, sharps, miscellaneous items) and instruments. Prepare, arrange, dispense, and receive the necessary instruments, equipment, and products according to the surgeon’s requests. Assist in technical tasks requested by the surgeon, support their procedures, and prepare medications and solutions (except IV administration). Apply the first layer of dressing following aseptic principles. Remove all instruments, compresses, and equipment from the surgical field and assist in safe disposal of soiled linen, equipment, and instruments. Install and check the operation of devices and equipment, positioning and adjusting settings as needed. Locate, plan, and prepare the materials required for the procedure, verifying integrity. Position the patient according to instructions, checking pressure points and observing skin for alterations. Supply the internal ward with sterile surgical materials and instruments. Open and hand over sterile materials to the ward nurse. Conduct a peri‑ and post‑operative surgical inventory for materials and instruments. Observe surgical procedures, anticipate needs, ensure sterility, and contribute to pre‑operative assessment and maintenance of CMS standards. Carry out related tasks, request examinations, complete hospital records, and schedule consultations. Desired Profile More than 4 years of operating room experience, specifically in orthopedics (PTH/PTG). Completed DEP (Diploma of Vocational Studies) in Nursing. Valid OIIAQ (Quebec Order of Nurses) license. Excellent command of French and intermediate level of English. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Desire to be actively involved in a stimulating environment. Compensation Competitive; higher than that offered by the OIIAQ. Schedule Daytime, Monday to Friday.
