Who We Are The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province’s power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost‑effective electricity when and where they need it. The Opportunity Reporting to the Supervisor‑Reliability Standards Investigations and Audits, the Cybersecurity and Compliance Investigator performs core investigative and compliance audit functions to support enforcement of compliance with reliability standards by Ontario market participants and the IESO. What You’ll Be Doing Participates in and coordinates compliance audits of market participants in relation to NERC CIP and other reliability standards. Participates in and coordinates mandated grid monitoring, complaint intake, whistleblower referrals, and other detection methods. Participates and coordinates investigations of possible breaches of NERC CIP and other reliability standards. Participates and coordinates information gathering and analysis supporting recommendations of sanctions for determined breaches. Liaises with other government agencies, IESO business units, and Legal Services pursuant to MOUs and protocols. Formulates findings and prepares recommendations to support VP of MACD’s consideration of enforcement rulings. Adheres to all market rules and administrative law principles governing investigations. Executes procedures in IESO dispute resolution process for MACD enforcement determinations and orders. Executes MACD processes in accordance with international or regulatory obligations or understandings. Participates in development of framework governing all processes, including policies, handbooks, guides, procedures, tools, and manuals. Supports Supervisor in providing advice to government, regulator, and stakeholders on cybersecurity and reliability‑related considerations. Ensures confidentiality of data from/about market participants is safeguarded. Performs other duties as assigned. What You’ll Need 6-8 years of professional work experience. University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related fields. Excellent command of English. Excellent analytical and reasoning skills. Experience auditing compliance with NERC CIP, NIST, or other North American cybersecurity standards. Experience implementing cybersecurity standards and practices in the electrical or utility environment. Experience developing and managing projects and detailed business processes, strategically evolving new business, and implementing efficiency improvements.
