Job Details We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Substation Design Engineer for our Power Division. The position is remote, with the option to work in a local Tetra Tech office. Responsibilities Assigns and outlines work, advises on technical problems, and reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy. Coordinates with clients to define project direction, provide status reports, and obtain required information. Leads a team of technical experts to complete projects that meet client requirements while respecting budgets. Reviews and prepares technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical requirements. Prepares proposal writeups and estimates based on client Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Develops, approves, and coordinates work schedules to ensure cost, quality, and time objectives are met. Maintains effective working relationships with colleagues, officials, and associates for discussion of design problems, specifications, and project control criteria. Establishes and maintains client contacts to provide or seek technical information related to the immediate project. Analyzes problems, organizes investigations, and determines specific design criteria. Commits to project acceptance, completion dates, resources, and staffing required to meet objectives. Requires knowledge of related engineering disciplines and fields. Qualifications University degree in Electrical Engineering. Over 12 years of experience in substation design, medium‑ and high‑voltage system design. Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States and/or Canada. Experience in designing electrical distribution systems and industrial controls for utility substations. Knowledge of medium and high voltage power distribution and transmission, including load flow, short‑circuit, grounding studies, transformer sizing, and cable sizing. Experience preparing layouts, elevation views, installation details, grounding, lighting, cable trays, and conduit drawings. Experience with protection, control, and metering systems. Exceptional communication skills (client relations, team communication, proposal and report development). Experience preparing technical specifications of electrical equipment, evaluating vendor proposals, and reviewing vendor drawings. Knowledge of renewable energy facilities (solar, wind) and HVDC projects. Experience with 3D design software. Salary range: $130,000 to $190,000. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
