As part of our growing team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems and/or components both in the traditional nuclear market and in new initiatives to develop nuclear technology and future nuclear-powered systems.What will you do?Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual / detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design processProvide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering teamPerform both classical hand calculations and analysis (including FEA) to qualify systems and/or components against applicable codes & standardsPrepare clear and concise design reports and technical specificationsReview, approve and seal design reports, technical documentation and drawingsDrive innovation and new methods in the development of new technologies and nuclear systemsCollaborate globally within our clientsEngineering framework alongside SMEs and nuclear specialistsSupport resolution of issues throughout design, manufacture and testing of systems and/or componentsWhat will you bring?Required :Licensed member of Professional Engineers Ontario (Mechanical Engineering)5+ years of relevant experienceExperience in conceptual design development, design reviews and engineering change control processesExperience in the substantiation of custom equipment typically: steel structures, hoisting / lifting systems, mechanical drive / positioning systemsExperience working within 3D CAD systems and with FEAThorough understanding of manufacturing techniques, welding procedures or specifications and associated inspection techniquesStrong written and verbal communication skills and comfortable leading meetings and giving presentationsStrong interpersonal skills, experience working effectively in a team environmentPreferred :Application of the relevant codes and standards applicable to the design of nuclear components and systems including specialized tooling and remote handling equipmentExperience with software such as Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor and ANSYS(FEA)Experience in pressure retaining systems to CSA and ASME design codesExperience interfacing with customer representatives and also providing oversight of vendorsExperience with radiological shielding design and/or equipmentWhat Will You Get?Our client is a firm believer in fostering a workplace that is powered by inclusive leaders, teams and culture.
