Job Title: MRI Technologist Position Type: Casual; Hourly FT long‑assignment (100%) x 1. Location: Central Zone, Dartmouth General Hospital; may also work at QEII Health Sciences Centre (Victoria General and Halifax Infirmary). Posting Closing Date: 25-Nov-25 About the Opportunity The MRI Technologist is responsible for day‑to‑day operations of all designated MRI suites, instruction of students, and direction of staff in the area (hospital personnel, maintenance, cleaning). The technologist ensures patient requisitions meet departmental standards, correlates clinical history with examinations to be performed, and performs imaging procedures and patient care duties under indirect supervision of the radiologist. Consistent application of all safety rules and techniques for magnetic and radiofrequency fields protects technologists, patients, co‑workers, and the public at all times. Multi‑Site: This position is based out of Dartmouth General Hospital and may be scheduled to work at the QEII Health Sciences Centre (Victoria General and Halifax Infirmary). About You Graduate of an accredited School of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technology. Certified on the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) MRI exam. Licensed by the Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP). Previous MRI experience preferred. Demonstrated competency in IV insertion. Frequent independent decision‑making, assessing diagnostic results, recognizing significance of all structures visualized, differentiating artifact from normal or pathological, and improvising standard techniques in routine and non‑routine circumstances. Ensures competency and maintains an ongoing interest in updating knowledge on new equipment and procedures. Practices excellent patient care, demonstrating courtesy, kindness, and understanding with effective communication skills. Operates computer systems related to patient information. Highly adaptable professional who can think critically and thrive as part of a dynamic team. Competency in other languages an asset; French preferred. Hours Long assignment full‑time position; 75 hours biweekly. Approximately 18 months. Call and shift work required, including evenings, nights, and weekends. Compensation and Benefits $38.74 – $47.50 hourly.
