Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.What you’ll doResponsible to the Charge Technologists in Core Laboratory and to the Laboratory Manager(s) for performing a variety of routine tests in the specialty areas of the Laboratory (e.g. Hematology, Immunohematology and Clinical Chemistry, etc.). When requested, takes charge of other areas during the absence of the regular Senior or Charge Technologists.What you’ll bringGeneral Medical Laboratory Technologist certification by the Canadian Society of Laboratory Medical Science (CSMLS) or equivalentHolds current Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)Recent hospital experience preferredRecent hospital laboratory (Blood Bank, Hematology, Chemistry) experience preferred (within 3 years)Who you areComputer skills are essential — knowledge of EPIC and Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Word and ExcelAbility to interact effectively with all levels of staff, patients, physicians, external regulatory bodies and the publicStrong written and verbal communication skillsOrganizational and time management skills to multi-task and prioritize workloadProfessional demeanor under stressful conditionsAdaptability to a changing environment and hours of work to meet patient needsAbility to make decisions and exercise good judgmentAbility to work independently and as part of a teamGood attendance and concentrationAbility to sit or stand for extended periodsStrong teamwork and positive attitudeCommitment to staying technically up-to-date and applying knowledge to the positionOur commitmentPRHC maintains an inclusive culture of respect and a diverse workforce reflecting the community we serve.
