Job Title Respiratory Therapist I - Float Employer Alberta Health Services Location Chinook Regional Hospital, Alberta About the Position This float position covers all areas of respiratory therapy support across the hospital, including acute and critical care, NICU, pediatric, operating rooms, obstetrical OR, and neonatal resuscitation. The role involves assessing patients, developing and implementing respiratory therapy care plans, and monitoring progress. You will use diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, collaborate with clinical teams, and educate patients and families. Key Responsibilities Assess patients (clients, residents) and develop individualized respiratory therapy care plans. Implement and monitor progress of respiratory therapy interventions. Operate and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Collaborate with interdisciplinary clinical teams to enhance patient outcomes. Train and assist health care providers in respiratory equipment use and care. Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, medications, equipment, and treatments. Provide support in bronchoscopy, EBUS bronchoscopy, airway support for cardiac procedures, tracheostomy changes, ABGs, and neonatal resuscitation. Work in operating room, obstetric OR, and level 3 trauma center as required. Required Qualifications Active or eligible registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Current Basic Life Support (Health Care Provider) Certification. Recent acute and critical care experience within the past 5 years. Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certification. Ability to work a 11.08‑hour days/nights rotation. Ability to work in all hospital areas: NICU, Pediatrics, LDR, O.R., PACU, Wards, ED, Ambulatory Respiratory Therapy, and ICU. Demonstrated pattern of professional development, strong interpersonal, communication, problem‑solving, and critical thinking skills; ability to manage competing priorities, exercise independent decision‑making, and resolve conflict; promotion of a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous neonatal invasive and non‑invasive ventilation experience in past 5 years. Previous operating room experience. Previous outpatient bronchoscopy experience. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Competency in arterial line insertion. Competency in adult intubation. Competency in point‑of‑care ultrasound for arterial line insertion. Previous formal mentorship experience. Completion of preceptorship training. Relevant bachelor's degree. Connect Care training & experience. Additional Details Union: HSAA Facility PROF/TECH. Unit/Program: Respiratory Health & Outpatient Cardiology. Employee Class: Regular Part Time.
