Job Title: Harm Reduction Worker Company: Lookout Housing + Health Society Location: Surrey, BC, Canada (Safepoint, 5 min walk from Gateway Skytrain Station) Employment Status: Full Time Temporary (until incumbent returns) Days & Hours: Sunday through Tuesday, 09:00 – 21:00 (12‑hour shifts) Salary: $27.92 – $29.60 per hour (based on seniority per the Collective Agreement) Job Summary The Harm Reduction Worker (HRW) supports Lookout’s Harm Reduction Program under the direction of the Program Manager. The HRW gives oversight of harm reduction supplies throughout the Society, orienting and supporting staff to carry out their duties within the harm reduction framework. The HRW provides the necessary support for the needle distribution program, including intake, orienting guests, client support and education on harm reduction methods and distribution of supplies. Job Duties Provide oversight, coordination and education of Lookout’s Harm Reduction and Needle Distribution programs. Assist staff and managers with implementing approved harm‑reduction practices. Identify and share information on a variety of resources with clients. Maintain related manual and computerized records. Respond to emergencies and support others to ensure a safe and caring environment. Remain alert and attentive during working hours; sleeping during shifts is not permitted. Comply with and contribute to all aspects of the health and safety program. Qualifications & Competence Related certificate in social services, or Grade 12 plus two years of recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Familiarity with community resources, particularly harm reduction, addiction, mental health. Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate and negative TB test. Class 5 driver’s licence and driver’s abstract. Asset: Naloxone training, Crisis Intervention (CPI), Trauma Informed Practice training. Ability to work independently and in a team setting. Strong stress management and organizational skills. Excellent communication, writing, documentation and organizational skills. Understand and maintain client/worker boundaries. Ability to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environment. Physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job‑related equipment. Minimum two years sobriety if you have had concerns related to alcohol and/or drug use. Criminal record clearance – Vulnerable Sector required.
