Senior MRI Technologist - Permanent Full-Time Join Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH), with potential shifts at South Muskoka District Memorial (SMMH) in Bracebridge. Role The incumbent will demonstrate high-level imaging competence, equipment knowledge, and superior leadership skills through collaboration, inclusion, and leading by example. Ongoing education is encouraged. Responsibilities include student preceptor duties for provincial training programs, MRSO designation (or willingness to obtain), MR safety proficiency, and overseeing MRI safety and emergency procedures. Responsibilities Oversee and coordinate the overall day-to-day operations of MRI services at MAHC in collaboration with the Charge Technologist, Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO), Magnetic Resonance Medical Director (MRMD), Radiologists, and/or department manager. Function as a liaison between MRI, referring physicians, radiologists, and other interdisciplinary team members. Work closely with the Radiologist and referring providers to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality MRI services. Maintain and control access to MRI Zones III and IV as per policies and procedures. Deliver in-person and virtual MRI safety training sessions to staff and visitors. Provide MRI services safely, efficiently, and effectively for the public in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Receive and complete requisitions. Prepare examination trays and patients for specific procedures. Review patient history, explain procedures, and position patients for examination. Work closely with patients before, during, and after the procedure, ensuring they are prepared and comfortable throughout the exam. Respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure. Produce high-quality, cross-sectional diagnostic MRI images of patients as ordered by a physician through operation of MRI and computerized imaging equipment. Work with an interdisciplinary team to prioritize the needs of the patients. Process and reconstruct images in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Enter relevant data into the radiology information system and archive images to PACS. Assist in the scheduling of staff and patients. Required Education, Experience & Certifications Successful completion of a CMRITO approved training program in MRI, including didactic teaching and supervised clinical experience. Registration with the CMRITO as an MRI Technologist. Certification with CAMRT (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). MRSO certification or willingness to complete MRSO certification. Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course. Five (5) years recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification – Basic Life Support (BCLS) level. Experience with Siemens MRI equipment an asset. Experience with Philips PACS and Cerner an asset. Certification of leadership or LEAN training an asset. Previous clinical leadership role in a Diagnostic Imaging environment is an asset. Benefits Extended health benefits (Permanent Full-Time only). Additional Information Location: Primary work at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) in Huntsville. Shifts may be required at South Muskoka District Memorial (SMMH) in Bracebridge. Hours of Work: Shifts include days and evenings. Hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
