Expected salary range: $90,000 - $100,000 per year

Purdys Chocolatier is looking for a Purchasing Manager to join us at our Production Office in Vancouver, BC

Reporting to the VP of Chocolate Operations, the Purchasing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day procurement activities along with managing, coaching and developing the Purchasing team members. The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for ensuring the team's alignment to the overall procurement strategy and supply chain vision along with maintaining and developing strong supplier relationships to promote overall supply chain resiliency.

As the Purchasing Manager, primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the coaching and development of the Purchasing team including the onboarding of new employees and training of procurement related processes.
  • Owning and developing relationships with internal customers and external relationships with suppliers.
  • Leading market exploration activities and supplier qualifications, in compliance with QA needs, for secondary/tertiary sources to mitigate supply risk.
  • Demonstrating strong communication skills and desire to meet and manage stakeholder expectations.
  • Assist the organization by ensuring Purchasing support for new product introduction and commercialization, highlighting and communicating risks as needed.
  • Leading systematic testing of procurement functions in software/ERP related implementations, ensuring Purchasing team needs are met and risks identified.
  • Analyzing and reporting on Purchasing team KPIs including supplier OTIF, NCRs, etc.
  • Completing root cause analysis on late deliveries, supply disruptions, etc.
  • Analyzing procurement processes and looking for opportunities to streamline them for efficiencies within the Purchasing team.
  • Owning end-to-end execution of vendor management including optimizing vendor payment terms.
  • Making recommendations on contracts and service agreements.
  • Leading the procurement related budgeting processes for fiscal year financial planning.
  • Owning the price/quantity discrepancy process, ensuring the Purchasing team works efficiently with the AP team in a timely manner to uphold the highest possible customer service.
  • Owning procurement related master data and MRP optimization for purchased items (such as lead time, vendor contracts setup, supplier scorecard data) and ensuring a culture of system driven optimization within the Purchasing team.
  • Assist the Purchasing department as/when required.

The ideal candidate would possess the following:

  • Previous experience in the procurement field is required.
  • Mandarin language is an asset.
  • Demonstrate the habits of accountable behaviour.
  • Possess leadership skills and be able to promote engagement within the team.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized and capable of working to deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload and make sound decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and proven problem-solving skills.
  • Must be flexible in relation to handling work requirements - ability to adapt to change and work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel (required), Power Query, Power BI, Syteline (ERP), WMS.
  • Candidates holding or working towards a professional supply chain or purchasing certification will be an asset (APICS CSCP, SCMP, PMP).
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to strategize on a systematic and efficient approach in data preparation, optimization, and presentation.
