Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead and optimize our business operations, ensuring efficiency, innovation, and growth. Reporting to the CEO, this role is responsible for overseeing project execution, resource management, financial performance, and strategic planning. The Director of Operations will drive operational excellence, align business processes with corporate objectives, and support the continued success of our asset management services.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership
  • Oversee the daily operations of the company, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Lead the integration of ISO 55000 standards into operational workflows to improve asset management practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, health, safety, and environmental standards in accordance with industry requirements.
Strategic & Business Planning
  • Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to define and execute the company's strategic vision and long-term goals.
  • Identify business opportunities, partnerships, and innovations to enhance service delivery and competitive advantage.
  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success and drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the Asset Management Policy implementation and alignment with corporate objectives.
Financial & Resource Management
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to optimize company profitability.
  • Monitor project financials, ensuring cost control and efficient resource allocation.
  • Work closely with engineers and project managers to streamline asset lifecycle planning and capital investments.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to improve operational efficiency and asset tracking.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and support a high-performing operations team, including project managers, engineers, and technical staff.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
  • Establish training programs to enhance team capabilities in infrastructure asset management, risk assessment, and maintenance planning.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a key point of contact for municipal, provincial, and other agencies, ensuring strong client relationships.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, government meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Support proposal development and contract negotiations to expand the company's market presence.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree or MBA preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Asset Management certification (IAM, CNAM, or ISO 55000) is an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience in operations, asset management, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal asset management frameworks, lifecycle planning, and regulatory requirements.
  • Financial acumen, including budget management, cost control, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with GIS, CMMS, and other asset management software is an asset.
