The successful candidate Learning Assistance Teacher will assume responsibility for: • Delivery of individualized instruction in one-to-one and small group settings for students with autism and ADHD

• Leading Educational Assistants in their support roles • Facilitating student integration into classes and the wider school community, as is appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience: • Bachelor of Education or equivalent with specialization in elementary education; • Undergraduate and/or post graduate course work in child development, special education and individualized instruction; • Recent teaching experience Grades K to 7; • Teaching experience working with student Individual Educational Plans and Behavioural Support Plans; • Willingness to complete additional in-service professional learning in the areas of ADHD and Autism;

• Additional Teaching Qualifications in ADHD and Autism is an asset; • Additional Teaching Qualifications in Special Education is an asset.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY: Candidates should have and may be assessed on their: • Successful implementation of effective instructional practices when working with student Individual Educational Plans and Behavioural Support Plans;

• The ability to apply assessment for, as and of student learning within an IEP;

• Ability to provide positive intervention in a developmentally responsive way;

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with students, Educational Assistants, families, administration, other staff members, and consultants; • Ability to support targeted intervention with students by utilizing diagnostic assessments and scaffold interventions based on data; • Ability to work as a member of a professional team and willingness to participate in the total school program; • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations people and a culturally diverse student population.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: • To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;

• Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check. • Preference will be given to the candidate who is a practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church, committed to excellence in Catholic Education.
