Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Themis Solutions Inc. Full time
Principal Design Researcher

We are seeking a talented Principal Design Researcher to join our growing Product Research Team. This role can be performed from one of our Canadian offices, remotely from the US or Canada, or a combination of both.

About Our Team

At Clio, customer insights are at the core of how we build world-class products, and the Product Research team is what makes this possible. As a Principal Design Researcher at Clio, you'll help product designers, product managers, and engineers build a deep understanding of our customers and their needs.

What You'll Work On
  1. Build foundational, canonical insights — such as personas, jobs to be done, customer journey maps, and customer-centric metrics — from a platform/framework point of view.
  2. Coalesce the above into cross-product ideal user journeys and overarching portfolio strategy, identifying strategic areas of focus and top-line value drivers.
  3. Make connections, tight alignment, and cohesive narrative across disparate data — qualitative and quantitative — across the business, including data science, strategy and operations, customer success, marketing, voice of the customer, and more.
  4. Build large-scale research programs that address a multitude of strategic areas of inquiry, owning priorities and scope in alignment with the business.
  5. Communicate and activate insights in a way that influences stakeholders across the organization to drive new customer-centric product ideas and product improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • An ability to derive and articulate platform, framework, and design system-level insights, and how they intersect with product insights.
  • Experience researching and formulating cross-product user journeys and portfolio strategy.
  • Evidence of impactful research programs (e.g., multiple research projects aimed in a strategic direction) with measurable results from having driven portfolio decisions and strategy.
  • Experience conducting research in the generative AI space, and knowledge of how generative AI is fundamentally shifting user experiences.
  • Experience running B2B and B2B2C research, using a range of methods such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, and usability testing.
  • Experience managing, influencing, and leading cross-functional stakeholders.
  • An ability to incorporate and triangulate qualitative and quantitative data from a range of sources.
  • Skills understanding business dynamics and needs.
  • Experience working on zero-to-one products in the B2B space.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Low ego and open-mindedness.
Desirable Skills
  • A master's degree or PhD.
  • A background in quantitative research methods and inferential statistics.
  • Experience not just influencing, but originating strategy.
  • Experience in a range of B2B, from SMB to Mid-Market and beyond.
  • Knowledge and experience in CRM.
What We Offer

Clio provides competitive pay practices that form the foundation of our human and high-performing culture, including:

  • Competitive, equitable salary with top-tier health benefits, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Hybrid work environment, with expectation for local Clions (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Dublin) to be in office minimum 2 days per week on our Anchor Days.
  • Flexible time off policy, with an encouraged 20 days off per year.
  • RRSP matching and RESP contribution.
  • Clioversary recognition program with special acknowledgement at 3, 5, 7, and 10 years.
Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

At Clio, we strive to create an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute their best work. We're dedicated to building a diverse and equitable team, and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
