Heavy Duty Mechanic

Mack Construction Services Ltd. is a growing organization looking to add an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to our team. The position will be based out of our head office in Sherwood Park. MACK is a turnkey utility construction company in Alberta. We provide horizontal directional drilling, hydrovac, excavating, trenching, and many other services in the telecom, utility, and pipeline industry. We are looking for an energetic and self-motivated individual.
Job Responsibilities:
- Repair, maintain and diagnose problems on a variety of vehicles and equipment in order to provide safe reliable vehicles, heavy work equipment and trailers upon completion of repairs.
- Perform regular vehicle maintenance - checking, testing, replacing all fluids, greasing, and lubricating various equipment)
- Inspect vehicles and equipment during scheduled preventative maintenance checks giving particular importance to factors ensuring safe operation.
- Prepare work orders and maintain accurate and timely repair records of completed work.
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently, is of high quality and meets all government regulations, company safety and environmental standards.
- Coordinate the acquisition of parts/materials through direct contact with suppliers and/or vendors/external repair shops.
- Maintain & manage Maintenance Schedules for fleet
- Maintaining & managing yard
- Perform other shop-related duties as required.
Working conditions:
- Working in a physically demanding environment, both inside a shop setting and/or outside with exposure to various weather conditions
- 8-10 hours a day, Monday to Friday with afterhours & weekends availability
- Must be able to work alone with minimal supervision
- Should be able to work in a physically demanding environment requiring heavy lifting, climbing large equipment, and using various tools
Requirements:
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, computer diagnostic techniques, and preventative maintenance understanding - with Ditch Witch drills & Hydrovac trucks specifically
- Experience diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical systems is a considerable asset
- Must have a strong work ethic and an ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner at all times
- Must have a clean driver's abstract, Q Endorsement required; Class 1/3 a considerable asset
