These programs positively impact the physical, cognitive, behavioural, social, and academic needs of children and youth in our community. We are a registered charitable organization first established in 1997, and support nearly 175 student programs in all three school boards.

JOB DESCRIPTION.
This Role Has Impact.
The Director of Development & Communications is a key partner in growing Nutrition for Learning's capacity and sustainability goals as food insecurity rises in Waterloo Region. You are values-centred, results-driven, and passionate about more equitable opportunities for young people.
You are an experienced leader with demonstrated excellence in fundraising, including in-depth knowledge of and experience with all fundraising programs including major and planned giving, annual and monthly giving, grant writing, special events, campaigns, and more. You are confident in your ability to hold Nutrition for Learning's current $3M+ revenue portfolio and work with the CEO to lead the organization toward an increased operating budget during these capacity-building times. You are familiar with CRM / DMS systems and confident in your ability to implement and leverage software supports to increase donor engagement, stewardship and fundraising results.
Further, you have marketing and communications leadership experience, and will confidently oversee the management of Nutrition for Learning's website, social platforms, digital marketing, creation of collateral and more.
You are a born collaborator and partnership-builder, confident in your ability to present, speak and lead within the community. As a key player on a small team, you like collaborating with teammates, using your imagination, owning results, and exploring new strategies. You are outgoing, engaging, and influential. You like seeing projects through from start to finish.
Job Purpose :
- Lead the design, development and implementation of a refreshed fundraising strategy with the support of the fundraising team, including the refresh of collateral and resources.
- Meet or exceed ambitious revenue and partnership targets.
- Oversee story-telling and elevate the community's connection to and engagement with the N4L brand.
- Lead the design, development and implementation of Nutrition for Learning's communications strategy with the support of Communications personnel.
- Provide management, coaching, and leadership to the Fundraising and Communications team, identifying opportunities for growth and development.
- With the CEO, provide clear and timely fundraising and communications reports to the Board of Directors.
- With the CEO, support the development of non-fundraising revenue opportunities and help implement special projects and pilots.
- With the CEO, help innovate key stakeholder and partner relationship and engagement strategies.
- Be a leader at Nutrition for Learning and within the community, representing the organization with integrity and authenticity.
Qualifications :
- Post-Secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- At least five years experience in fundraising and partnership development with a proven track record of success managing a revenue portfolio of $3M+.
- Demonstrated experience and success in sales, marketing, or dynamic partnership-structuring.
- Proven success as a team manager with at least three years experience in a management position.
- Experience with advocacy and government relations is an asset.
- Attention to detail and excellent project management and organization skills.
- Experience with client / donor management systems like Salesforce or Raisers Edge is required.
- Experience with digital fundraising and marketing programs and software platforms.
- Creative and resourceful team-player with an ability to support and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to adjust to changing needs and frameworks.
- Knowledge of cause marketing, sponsorship programs, and social enterprise frameworks is an asset.
