Maintenance Supervisor - Food Manufacturing

As an industry leader in food manufacturing, we provide our clients with the latest products while ensuring a safe work environment for all employees and management. Comprehensive safety training is provided to everyone. We are looking for a Maintenance Supervisor with a skilled trades license, preferably a dual ticket Industrial Millwright & Electrician. Experience in food manufacturing is an asset. Located in North York, ON.

Job Duties
  1. Manage and supervise the maintenance staff, and ensure that all requisite tasks are handled quickly and efficiently in coordination with Maintenance Management.
  2. Periodic inspections of equipment, facility, and systems to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustments.
  3. Plans and schedules corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance of equipment.
  4. Facilitate open and effective communications with other departments, ensuring optimal quality standards.
  5. Supervise repairs/projects carried out by sub-contractors and ensure the quality of their work and their adherence to deadlines through follow-ups.
  6. Enforce the company's current policies, procedures, and the occupational health and safety program.
  7. Maintain a positive employee/labour relations environment in support of cost-effective production of quality products by all plant workers.
  8. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  9. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  10. Perform mechanical skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of production machines.
  11. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  12. Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  13. Supervise regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities and assist when and where required.
  14. Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters in performing duties.
  15. Detect faulty operations, defective material, and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  16. Comply with safety regulations and maintain orderly work areas.
  17. Involved in all aspects of building maintenance requirements for all new construction, renovations, or updates to current systems.
  18. Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for internal assigned projects.
  19. Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions, and scheduled work.
  20. Complete all necessary reports and records related to the department.
  21. Adhere to departmental procedures and systems, e.g., "systems for preventative maintenance", "maintenance requisitions", scheduled work, and continued quality improvement/risk management programs.
  22. Operate Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  23. Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain various electrical components, appliances, and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes, the preventative maintenance program, and departmental procedures.
  24. Troubleshoot, install, and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment.
  25. Initiate safety concerns and make judgments on the best methods of completing tasks.
  26. Responsible for short-term planning and keeping Management aware of decisions being made.
