Access to Practical Nursing Lab Instructor (APNP 135) 25:124A Term of Appointment: February 10th - June 19th 2026 (6-12 hrs/wk) Start date: February 2026 Reporting to: Dean of Health Sciences & Human Services Salary: $45.60 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. The period of campus closure that occurs between Christmas and New Year's Day is unpaid time. Description: Northern Lights College's Practical Nursing Program is seeking a temporary, part-time instructor to deliver APN 135: Integrated Nursing Practice A. This course emphasizes the art and science of nursing, focusing on the development of nursing care and assessment. Learners will apply nursing knowledge through the practice of clinical decision making, nursing assessments, and nursing interventions aimed at the promotion of health, independence, and comfort. Classroom, laboratory, simulation, and other practice experiences will assist learners to integrate theory from other Access courses to provide sage, competent, and ethical nursing care with clients. Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, the occasional Friday As a member of the Health Sciences Department, you will be part of a collaborative and supportive instructional team. You are expected to pursue excellence in teaching by incorporating diverse instructional strategies and fostering a learning environment rooted in inquiry, reflection, and evidence-informed practice. Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Current unrestricted full registration as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse, nurse practitioner, or registered psychiatric nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. Minimum of two or more years of full-time Canadian Nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system and of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within a variety of care settings. Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners: completion of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or willingness to enroll and complete within 5 years. Where PIDP Is not yet complete, teaching ability must be demonstrated during the interview process. Evidence of completion of coursework in Indigenous cultural safety and humility (e.g., San'yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety Training or an alternative course). Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Committed to student motivation and achievement; and Ability to contribute effectively as a team member. Preferred: Teaching experience as a nurse or health care professional. Preference will be given to current residents of BC.
