Job Description:

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Director, Finance will be responsible for fund operations and the private reporting needs of Brookfield's Private Equity group.

Responsibilities:

  • Review quarterly reporting to investors and other users, including financial statements prepared under US GAAP and fund and investment performance tracking.
  • Review public reporting templates prepared in accordance with IFRS.
  • Review public reporting templates comprised of metrics used in Brookfield Asset Management's asset management reporting.
  • Review investor PCAP and available commitment schedules on a quarterly basis.
  • Present quarterly results to senior management.
  • Oversee the team's interaction with various service providers to ensure information provided to investors is accurate and timely.
  • Review valuations of fund investments on a quarterly basis.
  • Review accounting packages for individual legal entities, including review of tax financials.
  • Prepare internal and external audit requests and maintain appropriate control documentation.
  • Manage and review capital calls from, and distributions to investors.
  • Assist with managing fund operations, including investment closes, liquidity management, investor queries, forecasting, and compliance.
  • Thorough understanding of the legal structure of the various funds and the related impact on funds flows and consolidation.
  • Assist with analysis of complex accounting issues that arise, including the structuring of new acquisitions.
  • Provide oversight on any process improvements to the reporting process and ensure new funds are set up with a best in practice approach.
  • Actively coach team members.
  • Special projects & ad hoc requests as required.

Requirements:

  • University degree.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA/CA preferred).
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive work experience in finance and/or accounting functions.
  • Experience in private funds and knowledge of the investment management industry, and experience dealing with complex ownership structures would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, adapt quickly, and manage changing priorities.
  • Superior communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development.
