Job Title: Senior Buyer

We are seeking a dynamic and enterprising Senior Buyer to join our team. This role requires collaboration with account managers, purchasing scrap metal products from dealers/inter-companies, and developing outstanding business relationships with new and existing customers.

  1. Purchase scrap metal to meet or exceed tonnage targets while maximizing profit margins;
  2. Visit dealers and industrial suppliers to promote new and repeat business, offer pricing, provide customer service, answer questions, handle complaints, and build relationships;
  3. Prospecting for new customers;
  4. Develop reliable contact networks to stay up-to-date on buy/sell prices and local and regional market trends;
  5. Negotiate new contracts with clients;
  6. Perform P&L analysis;
  7. Use knowledge of triage operations and processing to make decisions that optimize pricing;
  8. Coordinate with administrative staff and the sales team to ensure accurate and timely documentation of all purchase transactions;
  9. Provide comments and recommendations on scrap metal purchase prices for AIM-operated yards;
  10. Carry out special projects as assigned;
  11. Lead the team;
  12. Perform all other related tasks.
Requirements
  • College Diploma in Commerce, Sales, or Marketing (or equivalent training/experience);
  • At least 3 years of experience in the recycling industry, preferably in ferrous and non-ferrous metals;
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license;
  • Superior customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent math, problem-solving, and negotiation skills;
  • Familiarity with metal alloy identification is an asset but not required;
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft suite;
  • Ability to travel throughout the territory;
  • Familiarity with CRM software is an asset;
  • Bilingualism in French and English is considered an asset for the QC region;
  • Leadership and team management skills;
  • Strong results analysis skills;
  • Ability to set and manage priorities in a high-pressure work environment;
  • Good understanding of organizational management.
