Sr Underwriter, Commercial Lines | Definity Job Description Assess, accept, and decline new business submissions. Re‑underwrite and negotiate renewals and policy endorsements. Negotiate terms and conditions of risk acceptance with brokers in writing, by telephone, electronic mail, or in person. Develop and maintain positive broker relations. Participate in production calls on brokerage offices as required. Provide technical support to brokers. What you bring to the role Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting. Strong computer literacy skills. Strong analytical skills; able to quickly interpret data, information, reports. Strong customer service, verbal and written communication skills. Professional, friendly, and courteous in interactions with customers and co‑workers. Perform well in a busy environment and remain calm under pressure. Team player adaptable to a changing environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills in French and good English skills. Strong problem‑solving abilities, well‑developed analytical skills. Ability to weigh many complex factors to make sound decisions and explain rationale. Work ethic drives you to take on challenges and see them through to completion. Collaborate well with others, sharing ideas, and listening to integrate others’ insights. Professional communication in both English and French, oral and written is a must.
