The Opportunity

WSP is seeking an experienced EIT or new-licenced Geotechnical Engineer to join our Atlantic Earth and Environment team in Dartmouth, NS. The roles and responsibilities will entail a combination of field work and involvement in developing our geotechnical engineering business including proposal writing and technical report preparation.

A Day in the Life

The responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting with project development and delivery (proposals, project management, client relations, team development, and training)
  2. Assisting or performing the planning, field support, and completion of geotechnical investigations for various projects
  3. Conducting construction materials testing and field monitoring of geotechnical aspects of projects
  4. Acquiring and interpreting monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation and testing programs
  5. Assisting with preparation of geotechnical design recommendations and parameters for analyses and design of structure foundations
  6. Contributing to a culture of health, safety, and protection of the environment
  7. Providing high-quality service to ensure client satisfaction
  8. Participating in team and client meetings
  9. Identifying areas for internal improvement and working with colleagues to develop these improvements
  10. Endeavoring to minimize exposure and risk across projects
Requirements

What you'll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor's or (preferably) post-graduate degree in Geotechnical (Civil or Geological) Engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant working experience since graduation
  • Registered as EIT or Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Nova Scotia or elsewhere in Canada
  • People skills and a desire to work in a team environment
  • Interpersonal communication and critical thinking skills
  • A "Safety-First" focus
  • High standard of behavior to uphold WSP's reputation and core values
  • Valid driver's license
