Registered Nurse

Your Opportunity:
Are you interested in taking your nursing practice in a challenging new direction? As a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse with a perioperative specialty, you provide care and support to patients before, during and after surgery. Perioperative nurses are responsible for maintaining a sterile environment in the operating room, monitoring the patient during surgery and coordinating care throughout the process. This post-diploma certificate prepares you to work alongside surgeons and other health care professionals in a challenging, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment—the operating room.
This post-diploma certificate combines online delivery with in-person labs, and in-person on-site training at GPRH ensuring you have the hands-on skills you need to practice perioperative nursing. Followed by a comprehensive Preceptorship and Orientation on-site in the GPRH OR upon successful completion of the Periop Certificate program. The program is composed of online courses that provide registered nurses and licensed practical nurses with the fundamental skills required to work alongside surgeons and other health care professionals in a challenging, fast-paced and team-oriented environment—the operating room. All 5 courses in the program are offered online. These courses are scheduled over the fall, winter and spring/summer terms and must be completed in specific sequence.
In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour - $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.
