Education: Other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Work setting: Ship building and shipping
Tasks:

  1. Assist in inspection of mechanical installations and construction
  2. Assist in preparing design, drawings, and specifications
  3. Assist in the design of moulds, tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
  4. Carry out a limited range of mechanical tests and analyses of machines, components, and materials
  5. Participate in machinery installation, repair, and maintenance
  6. Computer-aided design (CAD)
  7. Design tools, moulds, jigs, and fixtures
  8. Prepare and interpret engineering design, drawings, and specifications
  9. Prepare standards and schedules
  10. Technical writing
  11. Test machines and equipment
  12. Resolve work-related problems

Skills Required: MS Office, Computer and technology knowledge, 3D graphic software, AutoCAD

Area of specialization: Machinery and components

Personal suitability: Dependability, Excellent oral communication, Excellent written communication, Ability to multitask
