THE ROAD TO BETTER STARTS WITH YOUCheck out what others are saying about working at BD: offer RRSP matching as well as quarterly incentive plans for all our Full-Time Permanent employees.This position reports to the Product Development Manager who heads the Research & Development Department and works 7:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday (with every 2nd weekend as a 3-day weekend).As a Automotive Mechanical Product Development Engineer, your role includes:Apply accepted engineering principals to develop designs according to specifications and within project constraints;Produce high quality engineering documentation in the form of drawings, reports and SOPs;Research and evaluate specifications, vendor products, and outside services to establish designs and ensure that meet all requirements;Perform project management duties such as liaising with the sales group to assist in defining the project scope, cost and schedule estimates, and quality requirements;Log costs and monitor project performance against set budgets;Provide engineering support to internal staff and support the production departments with technical challenges;Use advanced tools to reverse engineer and design functional assemblies and components;Design functional parts and assemblies in Solidworks, analyze FMEA in Simulation and report in Microsoft Office applications;Perform a portion of quality control/assurance on incoming products and finish goods;Spearhead medium sized projects from multiple disciplines and different departments;Install and test fit prototype or production pieces to ensure compatibility with goals and standards;Ensure that designs are technically and commercially viable and can be reliably manufactured within cost targets; &Actively creates clear and concise SOPs and instruction manuals to establish standard training and mentoring practicesWhat We Look For:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics engineering (or equivalent qualification);A strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engine powertrain systems;Along with your 3-5 years’ experience and diverse knowledge of engineering principles, you will have a strong competency in; i) Solidworks modelling and drawing creation; ii) Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, preferably in an automotive background; iii) Advanced problem-solving skills including groups iv) Microsoft Word and Excel v) Good English communication skills both spoken and writtenWhat puts You AheadSolidworks simulationGeoMagic DesignXExperience with ERP systemsAutomotive repair backgroundTo be successful in the position, you will be able to work independently, and you must have excellent communication skills, both in written and verbal situations.
