Your future role on our team:

Join BBA and make the most of your experience by actively contributing to the various stages of major electrical engineering projects, from the earliest stages of the business relationship to onsite equipment commissioning. You’ll be using your leadership skills every day, whether it’s to develop trusting relationships with our partners in the region, train the next generation or manage a passionate team. This role will give you the opportunity to take the lead, while also being in the thick of the action by working closely with talented people.

Technical responsibilities:

  1. Execute day-to-day technical and strategic mandates based on areas of expertise and in coordination with BBA's internal disciplines located across Canada
  2. Deliver protection and design solutions: Equipment and Design specifications, detail design, vendor bid evaluation, factory acceptance testing, vendor drawing review
  3. Develop HV/MV designs: single lines, layouts, BOMs, schematics, wiring
  4. Relay design, settings, configurations for various applications (line, transformer, cap banks, etc.)
  5. Perform system studies: short circuit, load flow, interconnection, protection, etc.
  6. Provide expertise and guidance to both BBA's clients and project teams
  7. Conduct technical reviews and oversee engineering and design activities

Project management responsibilities:

  1. Lead various design phases of projects: proposal development, design development, design basis, detail design
  2. Mentor junior engineers
  3. Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders in the renewables, industrial and utility sectors across Canada and abroad
  4. Provide exposure to potential new clients and expand relationships with existing clients
  5. Support execution of BBA strategy and action plan

Overview of certifications and job requirements:

Electrical Engineering degree and registered as a Professional in Canada
Or:
A suitable combination of qualification(s) in a relevant field and applicable experience

  1. 12 years of experience, specializing in Protection Engineering
  2. Experience within large industrial, power generation and utility sectors
  3. Demonstrated experience with different vendors and different protection schemes
  4. Strong communications, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  5. A demonstrated ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and challenges
  6. Proven knowledge of project management practices
  7. Working knowledge of electrical design standards (CSA, IEEE, ANSI/IEC)
