Wind River Systems is seeking an experienced, high-performing Senior Engineer Software Engineer developing distributed cloud-based orchestration and automation platform solution for the intelligent edge.The orchestration capabilities in Wind River Studio give you a single pane of glass to manage and automate application deployment in a large-scale distributed environment. Pick the applications you need from an app catalog, deploy them to a carrier-grade cloud platform, and orchestrate the resources needed for the applications — simply, intuitively, and logically. Scale from a handful of nodes to thousands of nodes in a geographically dispersed distributed environment.About The Opportunity Within the Wind River Cloud team, we work with large-scale projects like Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, and fast-paced open-source technologies that are central to our products. We are seeking a versatile and high-performing Cloud Developer who thrives in agile environments and brings deep expertise in software engineering, Linux systems, and cloud-native development.You will contribute to Wind River’s leadership in the StarlingX open-source project, helping build and maintain infrastructure for highly distributed edge solutions—including 5G, autonomous vehicles, and industrial automation.Primary ResponsibilitiesDevelop software for a complete cloud infrastructure software stackDesign and implement high-quality code based on Kubernetes, containerized applications, and distributed cloud systemsApply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices to ensure robust and maintainable codeWork with open-source technologies including Kubernetes, OpenStack, KubeVirt, Helm, Ansible, Puppet, and OSTreeContribute to platform upgrade features and CI/CD pipelinesStay current with OpenStack advancements and integrate them into the platformParticipate in agile development processes, with the ability to shift between development, testing, and automation roles as neededInvestigate and resolve issues during product verification and customer integrationUse Linux and shell scripting for day-to-day development and operationsWork with open-source software responsibly, including understanding licensing models and managing CVEsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field3+ years of professional software development experience2+ years of programming experience with PythonExperience with Linux systems and shell scripting2+ years professional experience testing and deploying software utilizing Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm2+ years of experience working as part of cross-functional Agile SCRUM TeamsExperience building infrastructure software for scalable, distributed systemsStrong sense of ownership, urgency, and driveExcellent analytical, debugging, and communication skillsProfessional experience working as part of globally-dispersed engineering teamsDesirable QualificationsProven ability through professional experience to quickly adapt and independently learn new technologies and apply them to deliver resultsOur Commitment to DiversityWind River is committed to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
