Job Description:

The Asset Performance Analyst position is responsible for safely monitoring photovoltaic solar power and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The position requires 40 hours per week 5x 8-hour shifts, with the potential for overtime hours, and occasional on call requirements on weekends. The position will be hybrid and work from our Cambridge, Ontario office. Main duties include fault identification, alarm troubleshooting, dispatching field teams, reporting. Previous knowledge of Solar or BESS is preferred. This role will report to the Manager, Technical Services, they will work closely with the TruGrid’s Technical Services and Operations team to optimize system performance, system uptime and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily monitoring of PV and BESS projects utilizing the SCADA systems to detect potential issues
  • Support operations group in reviewing technical product manuals, and technical requirements for customer proposals
  • Evaluate and report on asset performance
  • Investigate and validate system alarms from SCADA Systems
  • Assist Field Service Technicians with troubleshooting.
  • Monitor, trend, and analyze performance data and identify common or reoccurring faults
  • Work closely with field services management and supervisors, Integration / SCADA teams to resolve and escalate support issues as necessary.
  • Identify process improvements;
    includes reduction of nonessential operations, increased productivity opportunities, increased safety opportunities, etc.
  • Support the technical services groups in the analysis of portfolios and provide insights on technical requirements of various asset technologies in BESS and PCS performance
  • Provide clear communication through timely, professional and accurate communications;
    written and in meetings
  • Assign workorders and dispatch field technicians to investigate alarms when required
  • Respond to inquiries from LDC, IESO, NERC and other AHJ
  • Monitor the project security systems
  • Work independently with guidance when required for resolution of complex situations.
  • Complete applicable safety and regulatory/compliance training requirements.
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent related experience and skills
  • Technical knowledge of renewable power generation operations, functionality, and design specifically for Solar (PV) and BESS
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with or strong working knowledge of SCADA systems and ability to operate
  • Ability to read and interpret SLD’s, Drawings, Manuals and Schematics.
  • Troubleshooting skills of communications systems
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively
  • Strong work ethic, positive team attitude and able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self motivated, with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
