WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Senior Payroll Analyst will manage Canadian payroll processes and systems, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation. It involves liaising with HR, addressing discrepancies, and safeguarding financial integrity. Additionally, the role provides backup support for other payroll personnel and third parties to ensure continuity of service. Overall, it plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient payroll operations for the organization.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Provide HR Representatives with resource information needed for collective bargaining.
  • Initiate and process off-cycle run when there are discrepancies due to technical or clerical errors by plant personnels.
  • Act as a first contact to handle queries from external audit and Internal audit. Provide supporting documents and other information as requested.
  • Set up profile for new hires (VAC table, EI reference code, Union Dues, banking info) in Dayforce for 900+ employees.
  • Prepare monthly payroll statistics and complete payroll surveys for Statistic Canada.
  • Be aware of the latest legislation relating to payroll and employment standards.
  • Develop and update Payroll procedure and manual as appropriate. Enforce and suggest internal control to safeguard the integrity of the Company.
  • Provide technical support to employees experiencing login issues by resetting Dayforce passwords and addressing a variety of inquiries that may arise, ensuring a smooth and efficient resolution process.
  • Check the accuracy in SAP interface file daily prior to import into Dayforce and Kronos.
  • Act as a Backup person for Payroll Manager and for the CBM Payroll Admin in a case of vacation or emergency.
  • Review, check, reconcile CBM Hourly payroll with payroll administrator, if applicable, approve and contact payroll administrator so the payroll file can be submitted.
  • Monitor the progression of CBM hourly employees and inform HR for SAP updates. Review and reconciliate CBM Hourly payroll, in collaboration with the payroll administrator. Upon verification, approve and facilitate the submission of the payroll file by the payroll administrator.
  • Prepare, review, check and reconcile the annual layoff Notices for CBM Hourly employees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position will act as a backup for Canadian Payroll Manager.

An adept decision-maker with meticulous attention to detail, showcasing a strategic orientation aligned with the specific business needs of the Canadian Payroll.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting
  • PCP and/or PLP Payroll Certification is required.

DESIGNATIONS:

  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce, SAP and Kronos.
  • Quebec payroll experience is a strong asset.
  • 5+ years payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-province environment.
  • Supervisor/ Management Experience.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, primarily Excel
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian provincial, state, federal and local payroll laws, taxation rules and regulations
  • Proven ability to work within a fast-paced environment while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work with highly confidential information while demonstrating tact and discretion.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • French is an asset

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, primarily Excel
  • Ceridian Dayforce, SAP and Kronos
