As the Shunt Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development of Winnipeg’s Operation Shunting Activity. This will include developing a program that will utilize the shunt team to ensure movement of equipment is effective and timely for the daily operation of our business. Coordinating between Dispatch, Warehouse, Maintenance Department and outside shunting customers that ensure timely delivery of all equipment. Build upon our established trailer readiness program and audit of that program.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Uphold corporate policy, procedure, direction and culture; ensuring program objectives/goals are met.
  • To communicate between the Warehouse, outside shunting customers, Maintenance Department, and the Operations Department that will ensure the timely dispatch of the shunt drivers on a daily basis.
  • Provide, improve and develop programs for the Shunt Drivers training program and other programs as determined by his/her Manager, the Management Team and/or Executive.
  • Other various Bison/Department projects, Tasks, Initiatives as assigned.

Our Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • A valid Class 1 driver’s license, with experience in 53’ van trailers
  • A clear driver’s abstract with no preventable accidents in the past 2 years, OR no more than 3 demerit points, no fresh convictions, accident convictions greater than 3 years old, and impaired driving convictions greater than 5 years old
  • A pleasant manner to work with customers, dispatch, managers, and the shop
  • Must have a good command of the English language in reading, writing, speaking and demonstrate comprehension of both written and verbal communications
  • Dangerous Goods Certification, Air Brakes Certification, current medical card, and police clearance
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Shift available: Monday to Friday, 10:00 - 18:30.
