What you’ll be doing

Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA) is CIBC’s central point-of-contact with global prudential regulators. As the Senior Consultant, Global Regulatory Affairs, reporting directly to the Senior Director, Global Regulatory Affairs, you will support the mandate of Global Regulatory Affairs by assisting our Bank in developing and executing a robust and proactive regulatory relations strategy, and in effectively managing regulatory risk. You will also be responsible for providing general support to the Senior Director and to the Global Regulatory Affairs team.

How you’ll succeed

  • Provide proactive advice: Assist CIBC businesses in identifying, interpreting and assessing the impact of regulatory change for CIBC. Under the direction of the Senior Director, GRA lead interactions and communications with Regulators, including regulatory reviews, regulatory communication, meetings and ad hoc requests.
  • Regulatory initiatives: Manage regulatory interactions within assigned portfolios (may include any of Risk Management (AML), Personal and Business Banking, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management) that are complex in nature requiring experience in the financial services and knowledge of CIBC products and services. You will lead the coordination of regulatory deliverables and support senior management in their interactions with regulators. Strong and effective relationships with regulators and internal stakeholders are required to ensure their needs and expectations are met and if possible, exceeded.
  • Subject matter expert: Maintain knowledge of policy and legislative developments that could affect CIBC’s business objectives; translating these developments for internal audiences including the implication of existing and proposed regulations, and, where required, assist in the development of responses to Regulators. You will review and analyze various issues and risks in your assigned portfolios (including reviews of new initiatives).
  • Relationship builder: Partner with groups undergoing regulatory examinations through centralized management of regulatory information requests, attending meetings with regulators, as required and providing advice and counsel.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience: In Financial Services with 3+ years in a regulatory advisory role. You have previous experience in Financial Services, working with regulators, and have an understanding of recent regulatory developments. You have knowledge of regulatory compliance, internal control, audit, or legal matters.
  • You have a degree: Undergraduate or master's degree in business, finance, financial risk management, and/or related field.
