Key Responsibilities
  1. Implement solutions architected by the Ekco Platform team
  2. Design, build, and maintain Linux-based services
  3. Provide technical and procedural guidance
  4. Monitor the health of Linux/Unix servers through automated processes
  5. Maintain and upgrade these systems via change control and BAU processes
  6. Work to automate any manual processes
  7. Diagnose complex technical issues and involve appropriate resources to speed up problem resolution e.g. 3rd party vendors
  8. Work on escalated requests or incidents from managed services
  9. Provide follow-up status internally in accordance with specific OLA's
  10. Service SOPs to review and deploy into production new platform upgrade/patch releases
  11. Ensure consistent and predictable application deployment through standardised environments and tools
  12. Capacity and resource monitoring and planning.
Key Requirements
  1. 3-5 years of experience working with Linux operating systems
  2. Proficiency in Systems Administration in Linux/Unix (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat, ZFS, OpenBSD, MySQL, and MariaDB etc)
  3. Ability to implement infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools through scripts such as BASH
  4. Experience developing tools to help increase functionality and efficiency of available infrastructure
  5. Experience maintaining software repositories and applying software updates
  6. Maintaining and creating documentation for procedures, configurations, and programs
  7. Evaluating compatibility of programs with existing communications hardware and software features
  8. Excellent troubleshooting skills
  9. Attention to detail and the ability to focus on a prioritized task list spread over multiple projects (time management)
  10. Able to follow and produce documented step-by-step procedures for associated technologies
  11. Superior written and oral communication skills, including awareness of when to ask for assistance and guidance
Bonus points if you have:
  1. Experience configuring and maintaining ZFS
  2. Knowledge deploying and maintaining OpenBSD
  3. Professional certifications in Linux are desirable
