The has partnered with our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking organization operating within the nuclear industry. Committed to excellence and innovation, they are seeking a talented and experienced Electrical Engineer to join their team.

What you will be doing:

As the new Electrical Engineer, you will report directly to the Project Manager and will work on the Construction Power Assessment SOW and support a power assessment conceptual design study.

The purpose of this conceptual study is to:

  1. Investigate and estimate the temporary electrical supply demands within the Nuclear Plant during the construction phase of the refurbishment project.
  2. Evaluate and analyze various options to meet the construction electrical power demands with recommendations for a temporary electrical supply and distribution system during the construction phase of the refurbishment project.

The Nuclear Plant’s in-house construction requires temporary power supplies to support the refurbishment during the construction phase. The temporary power supplies will need to coordinate with:

  • Retube Feeder and Boiler Replacement (RFBR)
  • Balance of Plant (BOP) refurbishment load
  • House load
  • The transfer of common services from Nuclear Plant A to Nuclear Plant B

The intention of this Conceptual Study is not to limit or eliminate options based on cost, nor to minimize modifications. It is to present all reasonable design alternatives. Note that Nuclear Plant A will be transferring common service load to Nuclear Plant B. Therefore, the Contractor must take into consideration all common loads (i.e., Boilers, Campus Planning, Pumphouse, etc.) and their corresponding documentation (i.e., Reports, Studies, etc.).

The details:

This is a contract Electrical Engineer position based in Pickering, Ontario, requiring office presence with flexible work hours and an option of a hybrid work schedule. What you will bring:
  1. 5-10 years of electrical engineering experience required with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) – preferably the OPG Pickering station.
  2. Experience with the use of industry codes and standards. Knowledge of Canadian Electrical codes and IEEE standards would be beneficial.
  3. Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) and OPG Design Engineer Qualification would be an asset.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills with comfort in leading meetings and giving presentations.
  5. Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
  6. Familiarity with safety standards and regulations, ensuring that designs comply with all electrical codes and regulations.
  7. Strong understanding, execution, and adherence to governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision.
  8. Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
