Job OpportunityYou will be responsible for conducting various actuarial tasks within the Corporate Actuarial Department focusing on Universal Life, including actuarial valuation of liabilities, analysis of drivers of earnings, experience studies, business forecasts, sensitivity / shock testing, LICAT components and FCT. You will also assist in the development of new corporate measures, as well as the implementation of new accounting standards and capital guidelines.ResponsibilitiesEnsure that comprehensive and reliable actuarial models are developed and monitored with the focus on the Universal Life productEnsure clear and concise communication to superiors, focusing on business driversSupport the quarterly reporting cycles and provide value added analysis of results, focusing on earnings and capitalBecome thoroughly familiar with actuarial valuation standards, CIA guidance material and OSFI guidelines to ensure accurate technical implementationBecome thoroughly familiar with the accounting and capital frameworks (IFRS 17 and LICAT 2025)Coordinate and conduct periodic and ad hoc sensitivity testingBecome subject matter expert in the assigned line of business (understand pricing, valuation, capital, business drivers, drivers of earnings, etc.)Provide expertise on streamlining the valuation and capital infrastructure, especially in the context of the current frameworksImprove the model governance aspects of the Corporate Actuarial departmentConduct periodic experience studies and present detailed findings to leadersWhat We Are Looking ForFSA or FCIA (preferred)University degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or a related fieldMinimum of 7+ years relevant experience in the life insurance industryKnowledge of individual life products with in-depth knowledge of the Universal Life productSuperior organizational skills with the ability to develop rigorous and efficient methodologies and modelsSuperior computer skills especially in the AXIS and Risk Integrity environmentAbility to set up detailed documentation that can be easily followed by qualified personnelAbility to understand and interpret complex guidelines and program them in modelsStrong verbal and written communication skills, focusing on relevant information and being able to explain complex concepts in easily understandable terms to a wide range of audiencesKnowledge and experience with accounting and regulatory capital frameworks including IFRS 17 and LICATStrong analytical abilitiesAbility to work independently, lead initiatives and collaborate across departmentsAutonomous in your developmentWhat’s In It For YouCompetitive base salaries plus a bonusHealth and dental benefits for the entire family from Day 1A fantastic vacation plan and time offA pension plan with 100% match by ivariEmployee savings plan with 75% matchFlexible and hybrid work arrangementsOpportunities for professional developmentRecognition programs to reward and motivateWellness programs to keep you healthy and happyWho You AreSomeone who values respect and authenticity, aligned with our core values: bringing clarity and focus to your work, taking ownership, remaining flexible, and collaborating with othersHow to ApplyTo apply, please email your resume to: A Human Resources representative is available to consult with applicants who require accommodation in the application or recruitment process.
