We have the perfect opportunity for youPOSITION OVERVIEWThe City of Maple Ridge is seeking a dedicated and experienced Manager of Engineering Design and Construction. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this permanent full-time position is responsible for managing the Design and Construction Section and providing comprehensive engineering services to various departments within the Engineering Services Division and other City Divisions. Key responsibilities include overseeing developing design criteria and construction standards, selecting and managing consultants, leading projects from design through construction, assisting with capital planning, managing environmental services and securing regulatory approvals, providing technical and environmental advice to other department managers, initiating capital programs as required, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective service delivery. The Design and Construction Section functions in a supportive role, utilizing dedicated staff, consultants, contracts, or other municipal departments to achieve departmental goals without compromising responsibility.Maple Ridge, a vibrant city of approximately 91,000 residents, is located in the northeastern section of Greater Vancouver, between the Fraser River and the Garibaldi Ranges of the Coast Mountains. A minimum of 10 years experience in Municipal or Transportation Engineering with progressively more responsible project management and supervisory duties and at least 5 years work experience in the Municipal sector including supervisory experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESWork requires good knowledge and understanding of the Local Government Act and the Community Charter as well as other regulatory legislation. Work requires extensive knowledge and experience in municipal infrastructure, including utility, drainage and transportation system design and construction standards. Work requires extensive knowledge of project management in the municipal engineering field, consulting services delivery, contract documents and the tendering and construction of municipal services. Work requires strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skill, in addition to excellent project management skills. Work requires a working knowledge and experience of municipal infrastructure planning, including utilities and transportation system long range planning, traffic impact analysis, alternate modes of transportation and traffic calming measures. Work requires extensive computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, data base management, visual presentations as well as basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Arclnfo.LICENCES AND CERTIFICATESReg
