Position Purpose:
The Business Analyst is responsible for information gathering and documentation for website and retail channel enhancements and maintenance. One of the key contacts for HomeDepot.ca related development and integration work with internal and external teams, the individual will work closely with end users, business units, and other stakeholders to identify and maximize opportunities to utilize Web-based technologies. In addition, the individual will look to improve business processes and support critical business strategies with strategic guidance from the Ecommerce Product Management Team. The Business Analyst will work closely with Project teams and support various stages of the development life-cycle.
Position Responsibilities:
- Defines and documents customer business functions and processes. Identifies opportunities for improving business processes through information systems and/or non-system changes; assists in the preparation of proposals to develop new systems and/or operational changes.
- Consults with internal and external teams to identify, define and document business needs and objectives, current operational procedures, problems, input and output requirements, and levels of systems access.
- Acts as a liaison between departmental end-users, technical analysts, information technology analysts, consultants, and other third-party vendors in the analysis, design, configuration, testing, and maintenance of projects to ensure optimal performance.
- Analyzes the feasibility of, and develops requirements for, new systems and enhancements to existing systems; ensures the system design fits the needs of the users. Tracks and fully documents changes for functional and business specifications; writes detailed universally understood procedures for end users and for use in training.
- Collects and prepares information and reports using analytics, industry/competitive research, and trends. Consolidates information into cohesive and understandable correspondence or other written form for use in Product Management decision-making.
- Participates in test case definition and user acceptance testing and testing of new system functionality. Develops training curriculum and conducts formal training sessions covering assigned systems module.
Experience/Knowledge Required:
- Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+).
- Preferred candidate will have experience in two of the following: web technologies, agile and waterfall methodologies, or experience in Search or Product Finding technologies.
- Knowledge and adherence to Home Depot policies and procedures.
- Adaptable, embraces change and adjusts quickly to changing work demands; prioritizes tasks to be consistent with organizational vision and department objectives.
- Strong Documentation and Communication skills required (Business Requirements Docs, Use Case development, Business process diagramming, Facilitating information gathering sessions).
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, operate under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent skills with MS Office, MS Project & Visio or any other Web-based diagramming software.
- Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, highly-motivated team player.
- Proficient technical knowledge of ecommerce technologies and web development.
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree/diploma program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job is required.
- Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a Business Analyst role.
