Responsibilities

What your day will look like:

  1. Design and Project Management:
    • Provide a full spectrum of project delivery, from requirement gathering to troubleshooting for industrial, commercial, institutional, and healthcare projects.
    • Design power and electrical systems including Power Distribution Low and Medium Voltage, Renewable Energy Systems, Motor Control, Lighting Systems, Emergency Power Generation, Fire alarm, Security and Communication Systems.
    • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
    • Prepare technical reports and construction cost estimates.
    • Assist with site investigation/review for renovation projects.
    • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members and external stakeholders.
    • Ensure all designs meet quality and applicable standards.
    • Perform risk assessments for employee tasks.
    • Business travel may be required.
  2. Learning & Development:
    • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning.
    • Provide input to the career development of junior staff.
    • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through professional associations and committees.
Qualifications

What you will need to succeed:

  • An electrical engineering technologist diploma.
  • Registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist in the province of Nova Scotia or eligible to be certified within six months.
  • Minimum of five to eight years of work experience in electrical facilities-related design and consulting.
Experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for electrical design drawings.
  • Proficiency in Revit for Building Information Modeling (BIM) design.
  • In-depth familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant building codes.
  • Hands-on experience in the design and drafting of electrical systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
