The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in Family Law Litigation and will be a motivated, self sufficient individual, capable of working autonomously with little supervision.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Drafting Pleadings, including financial statements and lists of documents
  • Filing pleadings with the court registries via agents or CSO
  • Drafting correspondence
  • Knowledge and experience drafting agreements
  • Preparing for hearings and trials in both Provincial and Supreme Court
  • Liaising with clients and opposing counsel to schedule meetings, court dates, etc.
  • File openings and closing and general managing of files
  • Management of limitation periods and court deadlines
  • Managing the lawyer’s calendars and B/F systems
  • Other general administrative tasks as required

Qualifications Include:

At least 5 years experience and a graduate of a Legal Assistant or Paralegal program

  • Proficient with litigation procedures and the Rules of Court in British Columbia
  • Proficiency in the use of Word and Excel, Clio and Soluno an asset
  • Excellent written composition, spelling, grammar and editing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
