We value Care, Accountability, Respect and Equity, and we are working together to build a healthier communityWhy Choose BCHS?Tuition Reimbursement (Centralized Education Fund)Casual, Part time and Full time positions (4 on 5 off for full time nurses)HOOPP Pension PlanPredictable work locationsDiscounted onsite parking (no shuttles or waiting lists)Support 24/7- you’re not on your own (managers on call, physicians, allied health and support staff).Wellness matters, our Employee Assistance program is free and confidential to all employees and family members.Ongoing infection and prevention control measures, education, appropriate PPE and support available to all employees.Position SummaryEffective September 7th, 2021 all applicants must provide proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 (in the form of watermark receipts from the provincial portal) or provide written proof of a medical or religious reason for not being fully vaccinated as per the provincial direction as set out by the CMOH Directive 6.Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Critical Care, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing evidenced based, comprehensive, safe, effective and ethical care to all clients in need of Respiratory Therapist services.Primary ResponsibilitiesSupporting the functioning of the anesthesiology role in the Operating Room and Labour and Delivery.Managing mechanically ventilated patients including modification of ventilation in accordance with ventilation and weaning protocols.Assisting in the transport of intubated patients.Ongoing assessment and intervention for high risk respiratory failure patients.Achieving certification in intubation and arterial line insertion.Participating in the on call rotation.QualificationsMust hold a valid certificate from the College of Respiratory Therapists of OntarioCurrent BCLS, ACLS certification required. PALS and NPR certification an asset.Able to work independently and as part of a teamExcellent communication, interpersonal, critical thinking, and time management skillsDemonstrated previous clinical experienceDemonstrated commitment to quality patient careHome oxygen experience an assetExcellent attendance and work recordPrimary responsibilities also include:Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority.
