We’re looking for our next Senior Analyst, Underwriting. Could It Be You?
Under the direction of the head of Munich Re F&C Canada, the Senior Underwriting Analyst
performs support of technical underwriting in a variety of technical, administrative, and accounting duties necessary for the efficient operation of the facultative and corporate underwriting teams in Canada.

• You will be responsible to clear, review, and enter new business, endorsements, and renewals for the underwriters within the established standards, including:

  • Setting up folders electronically for submissions, new and renewal business, and endorsements.
  • Clearing any incoming mail/emails in the underwriting system, and matching them up with appropriate file(s).
  • Requesting information and follow up for any missing information using email &/or phone.

• You will be responsible for the review of the underwriter’s and peers system entries to ensure accuracy of the information (four eye principle). Discrepancies are to be brought to the appropriate parties attention for correction.
• You will generate expiry lists and loss reports for Underwriters as requested.
• You will be accountable to clear accounting discrepancies and issue various insurance documents including FAC certificates and insurance policies for underwriters to sign.
• You will assist underwriters and leadership as required, contribute to peer reviews of team members’ accounts and participate in the planning and development of strategies for existing clients as well as new prospects.
• You will complete insurance single risk, reinsurance facultative certificate pricing and data analysis with minimal supervision.
• You will be responsible for the analysis, evaluation and modelling of data in support of the business goals of the company, working closely with data teams to ensure the latest development in various areas are appropriately reflected in the model.
• You will take an active role in the creation of presentations and presents results/topics to stakeholders (internal/external) and management, as well as preparing reports as may be required.
• You will be responsible for the independent handling of endorsements, as well as claim and accounting issue resolution
• Lead training for new hires within the UA team as well as less experienced employees including associated data quality checks
• You will regularly be called upon to provide assistance, coaching and training on operations processes for UWPF-FAB/FPP, FS-RI, MRET, Isycl, and other similar internal systems as may be required;
• You will be required to develop, publish and keep current workflow and process documents for the underwriting and operations teams to establish and main best practices.
• And finally, you will be a champion of new ways of providing policy support to the underwriters that brings consistency across the two areas (Facultative and Corporate), while also reducing complexity and increasing consistency.


Qualifications
• First and foremost, you will demonstrate strong leadership and achievement, a strong work ethic, enthusiasm towards change and a drive to make a difference.
In addition, we are looking for the following qualifications:

Your profile
Required Education/Experience
• Post-secondary education, preferably a Bachelors’ Degree
• Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or progression towards this designation is an asset
• 2-5 years primary insurance underwriting experience as a minimum or equivalent
• 3-4 years of facultative reinsurance treaty experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer software
• Demonstrated analytical, negotiating and investigative competencies
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrate accuracy and an eye for attention to detail
• Solid grasp of commercial insurance products combined with good knowledge of the insurance industry
• Proficient computer skills, data management systems and aptitude for new computer systems.
• Ability to work on a small team and build strong relationships with colleagues
• High degree of drive, self-motivation, continuing development and proven ability to work independently
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• High degree of flexibility and adaptability to changing environment and situations
• French and/or secondary language skills, verbal and written are an asset
