Senior Manager, Curriculum and Accreditation

Position Summary


JIBC is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Dean, you'll be an integral member of the school’s leadership team. Your primary responsibility will be to oversee curriculum development, review, and accreditation processes. We're looking for someone with a strong background in instructional design and project management skills to ensure our education and training programs effectively meet the evolving needs of learners and clients.

Curriculum Development & Maintenance:
In this role, you will lead curriculum development projects, collaborating closely with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and program personnel. Together, you'll ensure the creation of quality programs and courses that align with current educational concepts and practices. Your strategic input will be crucial in planning the structure and organization of program content, using various strategies such as program maps and competency maps.

Quality Assurance & Accreditation:
As the overseer of quality assurance processes, you'll be responsible for ensuring the integrity and excellence of our programs. This includes overseeing accreditation and external certifications for the school, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will uphold our reputation as a provider of high-quality education in public safety.

Management, Supervision, and Leadership:
In addition to supporting and guiding a team of professionals, you'll participate in the development of team plans and initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Your ability to provide leadership to staff will be essential in fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within the school. Additionally, you'll contribute to the overall direction and operations of the school through participation in leadership team meetings and interactions with personnel and the Dean.

Finance and Administration:
In this capacity, you'll play a role in financial management, developing annual and project budgets for assigned areas of responsibility. You'll also review and approve invoices, time sheets, and expense claims within your areas of authority. Your ability to manage workload effectively within established timelines, budgets, and client specifications will be critical to the success of the school's operations.

Other Responsibilities:
Beyond your primary responsibilities, you'll also be involved in monitoring trends, research, and advancements in the field of public safety education. You'll participate in planning, development, and problem-solving activities related to administrative, operational, and management matters of the school. Additionally, you may represent the school on relevant JIBC committees and participate in community-based committees or working groups as necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Academic 
Master’s degree in education, adult education, curriculum development, educational technology, or related field.

Other Knowledge/Training
Completion of one or more instructional skills or instructional design courses.

Background in some aspects of emergency management, emergency services delivery, fire protection, or similar fields an asset. 

Skills required include the ability to implement sound instructional design principles, develop instructional materials to address specific learner profiles, manage multiple projects with shifting priorities and timelines, write and edit clear instructional materials, provide coaching and training, attend to detail, and evaluate and make recommendations regarding curriculum and accreditation in various modalities. The incumbent must have excellent oral communication skills and sound technical writing and editing skills.

In addition, the incumbent is expected to demonstrate the following:

• Ability to work effectively and maintain professional relations with the public, faculty, staff, clients, and students.

Related Experience
• At least 3 years’ demonstrated experience in curriculum design and development, including conducting training needs assessments; developing instructional design plans; guiding the development of learning outcomes, course outlines, course content/manuals, learning activities, lesson plans, and assessment instruments; and researching and writing course content.
• Experience with accreditation programs and/or processes in the academic learning environment.
• Experience designing online and blended teaching and learning environments using current technology and online tools such as Blackboard, Storyline, WordPress, Rise, Kaltura, QuestionMark, SCORM, etc.
• Experience developing and integrating simulations, applied exercises and other interactive learning approaches within face-to-face and online curriculum.

What JIBC Offers:

Fair Comparison/Excluded/Faculty Equivalent: We offer a total compensation package that includes a benefit plan, which includes Extended Health and Dental Benefits after three months, and enrollment in the College Pension Plan upon hire. In addition, we offer 20 vacation days and 10 Personal Days annually (pro-rated in first year), as well as generous other leave entitlements.

Salary Range:  

$101,382.05 to $119,273.00 annually – Fair Comparison Excluded Compensation Salary Grid 11

The Compensation Range shown reflects JIBC's range for the role: between 85% and 100% of the sector range control point. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between 85% - 94% of the control point, based on the knowledge, qualifications and experience for the role, with exceptions in the 95% - 100% range.
