Summary

Key Responsibilities
  1. Continuously improve and maintain the effectiveness of occupational health & safety (OHS) programs across the company.
  2. Collaborate with other subject matter experts responsible for various OHS programs, as well as operational stakeholders and joint OHS policy committees.
  3. Deliver training, consultation, guidance, and technical support on occupational safety topics. Support all business units in meeting safety compliance.
  4. Be involved in the management of incidents with OHS implications and in conducting accident investigations and root cause analysis.
  5. Propose and coordinate implementation of preventive measures, integral to Bell’s OHS management system.
  6. Act as the employer representative in various files under his/her responsibility in discussions with governmental or regulatory bodies.
Critical Qualifications
  • University degree in a discipline relevant to occupational health and safety.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in occupational health and safety management, workplace inspections, and accident investigations.
  • Experience developing and delivering training (face to face, webinars, and e-learning creation).
  • Practical knowledge of the Canada Labour Code Part II and associated regulations as well as applicable provincial OHS legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply health & safety legislation, regulations, and standards (CSA and others) in technical environments and within large organizations.
  • Understanding of hazards and controls associated with working at heights, tools and equipment, electrical safety, confined spaces, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics.
  • Experience in unionized and decentralized environments.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts within a diverse and decentralized operational environment.
  • Availability to work overtime and/or extended work shifts to participate in the investigation of an accident or other urgent occupational health and safety matter.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational and accountability skills.
  • Proven ability to work in matrixed teams and remotely with individuals at all levels.
  • Organized, detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Analytical and synthesis skills, and ability to communicate information in a clear manner.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of database reporting and statistics.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 standard.
  • CRSP designation (or equivalent) is an asset.
