Business System Analyst / Local Product Owner

Location: 7070 Mississauga Road, Mississauga, ON

Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days a week in the office)

About the Project:

  • Join the cutting-edge gRED (Client Research & Early Development) team This project supports scientists in performing laboratory experiments and data analysis using advanced tools. The system you’ll be working on helps researchers, especially in the Proteomics domain, process data through multi-step workflows, ensuring the analysis of laboratory outputs in an efficient and scalable manner.
  • The role involves creating a user-friendly solution for scientists to execute complex workflows, manage data, and visualize results using web interfaces. Proteomics, the study of protein components within cells, will be a primary use case for the system, making it an exciting opportunity to impact groundbreaking scientific research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and IT, ensuring communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, UX Designers, Support, and Development teams to define optimal solutions.
  • Translate and simplify business requirements for technical teams, maintaining clear documentation.
  • Manage the backlog, releases, and project roadmap, ensuring the team is aligned with the product vision.
  • Inspire development teams by providing context and business insights, driving product innovation.
  • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and support the team in delivering a top-notch product.
  • Facilitate communication with scientific stakeholders, especially in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT software delivery and business analysis.
  • Proficient in agile tools (e.g., Jira), user story creation, and software documentation.
  • Strong experience with workflow visualization tools like Lucidchart, Miro, Visio, UML, etc.
  • Understanding of cloud deployment, containers, APIs, high-performance computing, and modern architectures.
  • Experience with systems for data management and analysis.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy in disseminating information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, documentation, and presentation skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in scientific environments or with laboratory processes.
  • Background in molecular biology, protein science, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with Python and software development processes.

Soft Skills:

  • Agile mindset with experience in methodologies like Scrum.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with a high degree of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to present complex business knowledge in an understandable form for developers.
  • Self-organized, reliable, precise, and a quick learner.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 10% travel (USA/Europe).
