Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Integrated Long-Term Care (LTC) & Assisted Living (AL) Services, the Operations Director is part of the LTC leadership team and directly responsible for overseeing the operations of the owned and operated long-term care Homes. This includes all aspects of daily operations as well as planning, implementing, and organizing of initiatives in the LTC program with emphasis on the Island Health owned and operated Long-Term Care Homes. In collaboration with the Executive Director, other Directors in the LTC program, Managers and other stakeholders, the Operations Director, provides ongoing leadership in the development and implementation of current and new projects within Long-Term Care. This position ensures critical linkages with all levels of staff within long-term care homes and liaises with internal and external stakeholders as appropriate. This position also travels between different sites across the Island.
The Operations Director provides leadership and support to Managers inclusive of quality initiatives, workload requests, equipment and project coordination, Patient Care Quality Office (PCQO) responses and Outbreak responses. This position acts as the designate in place for other directors in the LTC program when required.
The Operations Director plays a key role in the development and implementation of Island Health and Long-Term Care program strategic goals and objectives, through leadership in project management and knowledge of system performance, using collaborative leadership to support the management team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or a relevant discipline plus ten (10) to fifteen (15) years' recent, relevant, progressive senior management experience in long-term care.
