That’s why SickKids Foundation is looking for a new Director, Infrastructure, Automation & Cybersecurity.Position StatusPermanent Full-TimeAvailableImmediatelyDescription of the Position:The Director, Infrastructure, Automation & Cybersecurity is responsible for providing both strategic and operational leadership for the Foundation’s cloud, infrastructure, network, workplace technology, and cybersecurity environments. This position ensures that all technology platforms and services, from collaboration tools to core infrastructure, are secure, automated, and resilient, thereby enabling the Foundation’s digital operations and supporting its data-driven mission.The Director oversees delivery squads focused on Infrastructure & Cloud Operations, Cybersecurity, and Workplace Technology & IT Support. This leadership role drives modernization, automation, and service optimization initiatives aimed at improving performance, enhancing the end‑user experience, and reducing complexity. The Director plays a crucial role in supporting enterprise transformation initiatives, such as CRM Modernization, by ensuring the Foundation’s technology foundations are secure, scalable, and automated.Furthermore, the Director promotes the use of AI and automation tools, including enterprise workflow automation platforms, to streamline IT operations, simplify business processes, and boost employee productivity across the organization. By working collaboratively across technology and business teams, this leader advances the Foundation’s goal of achieving greater efficiency through automation, standardization, and ongoing improvement.Key Responsibilities Include:Strategic LeadershipDefine and execute a multi-year roadmap for infrastructure, workplace technology, automation, and cybersecurity in alignment with the Foundation’s strategic priorities.Lead the modernization of cloud, infrastructure, and digital workplace services, ensuring they are scalable, efficient, and cost-optimized.Champion automation-first principles by promoting intelligent operations, self-healing systems, and AI-enabled service delivery.Collaborate with business and technology leaders to ensure systems, data, and integrations are consistent with enterprise standards and compliance frameworks.Foster a culture of reliability, performance, and innovation within the Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and IT Support squads.Program EnablementServe as the infrastructure and security lead enabling enterprise programmes such as CRM Modernization, ensuring all cloud, data, and integration environments are prepared and supported.Provide technical leadership to ensure infrastructure scalability, security, and performance for enterprise modernization initiatives.Work closely with project teams to plan and execute technological components essential to modernization, migration, and data integration efforts.Ensure that risk, privacy, and cybersecurity requirements are embedded throughout all modernization projects.AI & Automation EnablementLead the adoption of AI-powered tools and workflow automation technologies (including low-code/no-code platforms and robotic process automation) to improve IT and business operations.Partner with business units to identify, design, and implement cross-functional automation use cases that increase efficiency, accuracy, and enhance the employee experience.Drive the integration of automation into IT service management, provisioning, onboarding, and business workflow processes.Promote governance and best practices for secure and sustainable scaling of enterprise automation solutions.Introduce intelligent monitoring, alerting, and resolution processes to decrease manual effort and improve service levels.Cybersecurity & Risk ManagementLead the Foundation’s cybersecurity strategy, including threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.Maintain governance, policy, and awareness programmes to strengthen the Foundation’s security posture.Ensure compliance with privacy, security, and data protection frameworks.Develop metrics and reporting mechanisms to measure risk, resilience, and readiness across the technology landscape.Oversee the Foundation’s digital workplace technologies, ensuring reliable, secure, and user-friendly collaboration, communication, and endpoint management.Lead the IT Support and Helpdesk teams, including both deskside and remote support functions, to troubleshoot hardware, peripherals, mobile devices, and other end-user technology for staff in both office and remote environments. Guide teams to deliver high-quality, customer-centric technology support across the organization.Establish and monitor service levels, incident management, and problem-resolution processes to ensure a positive user experience.Continuously improve IT service delivery through automation, self‑service tools, and proactive user engagement.Ensure all technology assets, including devices, software, and licenses, are effectively managed and aligned with lifecycle management practices.Operational ExcellenceOversee daily operation of core infrastructure systems, ensuring high availability, strong performance, and disaster recovery readiness.Drive continuous improvement in service management, monitoring, and change control processes.Partner with vendors and manage service providers to optimize contracts, performance, and service delivery.Implement governance practices to ensure technology investments are optimized and aligned with desired business outcomes.Leadership and People DevelopmentMentor Associate Directors and Squad Leads to build leadership capacity and ensure operational excellence across teams.Foster a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement.Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to prepare future-ready technical leaders.QualificationsWhile we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Over ten years of progressive experience leading infrastructure, workplace technology, automation, or cybersecurity functions in complex environments.Demonstrated success in implementing infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, and enterprise automation programmes at scale.Strong understanding of hybrid cloud architecture, network design, identity management, and enterprise security frameworks.Experience managing IT Support and Helpdesk operations, with a focus on user satisfaction and continuous improvement.Experience implementing AI and low-code/no-code automation platforms (such as enterprise workflow or robotic process automation solutions) to streamline operations and improve business productivity.Proven leadership in cybersecurity operations, compliance, and risk management.Deep knowledge of IT service management, change control, and performance monitoring.Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.We’re looking for a passionate individual who is interested in moving the dial and making a difference.
