You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing the mobile platform that will power our connected devices. The role will begin as an individual contributor for the development of our very first connected device. As we scale our ecosystem, this role could transform into a leadership position managing a team or you can choose to remain an individual contributor and hire a supporting cast. This is a greenfields role so stack selection, growth of the SW team, and day-to-day execution will be primarily driven by yourself in consultation with the CTO. We’re looking for someone with initiative and motivation. Key Responsibilities:Leadership and Management:Oversee the entire mobile application development lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance.Ensure best practices in software development and code qualityDevelopment:Design and develop scalable and efficient mobile applications for both iOS and Android platforms.Implement front-end and back-end components of mobile applications.Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code using modern programming languages and frameworks.Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement user-friendly interfaces.Architecture and Design:Define and maintain the overall architecture of the mobile applications.Ensure the applications are robust, secure, and scalable.Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in mobile development and integrate them into projects where applicable.Collaboration:Work closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.Participate in code reviews, provide feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards.Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth project execution.Quality Assurance:Implement automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment processes.Troubleshoot and debug issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions.Conduct regular application optimization to ensure high performance and responsiveness of applications.Monitor customer feedback and work closely with the product team to devise solutions and improvementsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or proven experience as a full stack mobile engineer, with at least 3 years in a lead or senior role.Proficiency in mobile development frameworks such as React Native, Flutter, or Xamarin.Strong knowledge of native mobile development (Swift for iOS, Kotlin/Java for Android).Experience with back-end technologies such as Node.js, Django, Ruby on Rails, or similar.Familiarity with cloud services like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and mobile architecture patterns (MVC, MVVM, etc.).Experience with version control systems like Git.Excellent problem-solving skills with a long term mindsetExperience bringing up applications from the ground up, greenfields creative thinkingStrong communication and leadership skills.Preferred Skills:Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.Familiarity with mobile app analytics and performance monitoring tools.Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of released mobile apps.Location & Reporting:Able to work remotely but collaborate with teams in Vancouver, BC + Toronto, ON and manufacturing partners in Asia..This role reports to the CTO and resides within the connected devices teamHow to Apply: Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their resume and/or a portfolio of their previous work to rahul@tuftandpaw.com.
