49th Parallel Roasters is hiring Café Supervisor in North Vancouver

The Café Supervisor is a key member of the café operations team providing operational support to the Café Manager and acting as a shift lead for the team of baristas.

Job Duties

  • Supervise, direct and determine the activities of staff positions throughout the shift
  • Leading the cafe team and welcome customers, taking orders, making product recommendations to customers and processing transactions
  • Holding keys and being responsible for the opening and closing of the café
  • Assist with training new staff on in-café routines and barista skills, as directed by the Café Manager; assist new staff during their orientation and training period.
  • Dialing-in and tasting espresso and coffees to ensure product quality
  • Processing pre-orders through the POS system
  • Preparing and serving specialty coffee drinks including espresso-based beverages in line with 49th Parallel’s standards
  • Communicating special requirements to the kitchen
  • Organizing stock and receiving deliveries
  • Other duties and special projects may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of experience in a hospitality / service environment
  • 1 year of experience in a coffee focused position and experience preparing specialty espresso-based beverages is preferred
  • 6 months experience as a Barista at 49th Parallel café or prior experience as a Supervisor in a specialty coffee environment are preferred
  • Early morning start is required.
  • Exceptional knowledge of coffee flavour notes and the ability to demonstrate a good palate and dial-in coffee and espresso efficiently is an asset
  • Working knowledge of POS systems is an asset
  • Experience providing staff training is an asset

Permanent, Full-time, 32 hours per week (32-40 hours per week)

$20per hour

Benefits: 2 weeks (10 working days) annual vacation after twelve (12) months of continuous employment; Complimentary café beverages and discounted products. Extended medical benefits (Dental, healthcare, paramedical service coverage, vision, life insurance) are available after one year of employment. Employees pay 50%.
