You’ll be responsible for:

  1. Keeping our tooling and processes up to date with our evolving needs as we scale out both the user-base and the engineering team.
  2. Working closely with our development and product teams to understand their bottlenecks, and to mentor them on operational ownership.
  3. Improving our internal tooling (instrumentation, dashboards, deployment automation), as well as the infrastructural availability of our production services.
  4. Implementing and maintaining system configurations and baselines to support secure application development software control best practices and standards.
  5. Providing high-availability operational support and automated solutions across the environment.
  6. Supporting the development team and performing activities to resolve developer issues in a timely and accurate fashion.
  7. Implementing deep telemetry capabilities to provide ongoing success and performance metrics.
  8. Ensuring infrastructure & application is secure by design and measuring the implemented security measures through the DevOps lifecycle.
  9. Having deep knowledge in cloud-native technologies and able to work hands-on for automation and cloud build at a proficient level.
  10. Understanding security compliance and regulations (e.g., OSFI, GDPR, PCI DSS, ISO 27001).

You bring:

  1. Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Engineering, Programming/Systems, Computer Science, or other related discipline.
  2. Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full-Time Capacity.
  3. 3+ years experience in software development.
  4. Ability to explain complex problems in simple language to non-technical people.
  5. A very strong developer mindset.
  6. Strong collaboration across the development, security & operations teams.
  7. Strong communication skills, including technical writing.
  8. Process-driven, strong documentation and organizational skills.
  9. Focused problem solver, strong troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  10. Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high-quality work, both personally and at a team level.
  11. Good platform reliability engineering skills to ensure the platform you support is kept running 24/7.

Technical skills:

  1. Knowledge of Bash, Python, working with RESTful APIs.
  2. Experience with creating Ansible, Terraform playbooks.
  3. Experience in DevOps tooling and implementation.
  4. Experience with GiOps, Artifactory tools such as Jfrog/Nexus.
  5. Experience with Docker or other similar container technologies.
  6. Knowledge of Container Orchestration tools such as Openshift or Kubernetes.
  7. Experience in Cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS.
  8. Experience in event streaming technologies such as Kafka or Messaging Technologies such as JMS.
  9. Knowledge of Software defined routers such as Envoy or Nginx.
  10. Understanding of software design patterns.
